Reverse mortgages

Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) borrowers must be 62 or older, occupy the home as their primary residence, and continue to pay property taxes, homeowners insurance, HOA dues if any, and home maintenance. The loan balance grows over time and becomes due when the last borrower leaves the home, sells, or does not meet the loan terms. Talk with a HUD-approved counselor before applying.
